WEBINAR

Webinar 2 – Where is God when we hurt? COVID-19 & Spiritual Wellbeing

One common question we may all have in this trying time is – Where is God in times like these? Why is He allowing suffering on us? In the past months COVID-19 has affected almost all countries. Besides the health risks, it has disrupted varying spheres of our social, political, or economical lives. It is also intruding into our spiritual domain. Reviewing the South Asia situation, it seems there are three spheres in which its impact will be felt in the coming month and perhaps years- a) the psychosocial sphere, b) the spiritual sphere and c) the socio-economic sphere. The first webinar focused on the impact on the psychosocial sphere and this second webinar conducted on 5th of September focused on the spiritual sphere not in a vacuum but the context and reality of the other two. It explored questions relating of coming to terms with fear, uncertainty and suffering within the church as well as what is the role and response of church in the wider society it is a part of. We had three panelists Rev. Monodeep, Rev. Tariq Waris and Ms. Jasetha exploring on the topic from theological perspective, pastoral perspective and practical experience in spheres of ministry in context of pain and suffering. Stephen Edison moderated the session with support from Bijoy Idicheriah and Prasansa Subba.
